The penny is taking to much money to process, we are losing money instead of making money. The country is in debt and we are losing money from a simple coin, which we dont do anything about. Many people dont even use the penny they just throw it away, we should just get ride of it.
II. Facts that demonstrate that there is a problem are:

The penny cost 1.7 cents to produce, which is more than its value. United States makes 8 billion pennies a year for only 130 million dollars, that is only 80 million dollars worth of pennies. American taxpayers lose nearly $50 million in the process, then why not just save that money by eliminating the penny. Zin and copper prices are increasing and the penny is 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper. Taxpayers are losing 0.26 cents for every of 7.4 pennies processed annually, taxpayers pay enough taxes and now we are losing money to make a coin that is not worth what we spent to process it. Most people throw away 4 cents worth of pennies a day, people try to avoid the carring pennies.
